proform 7.0RE assembly
By howie
This will be part 1 of a 2 part review for the Proform 7.0 RE elliptical. I purchased this unit from Sports Authority yesterday, 5/19/2013 and was a bit intimidated when I got home and opened the box. There were so many parts that I thought not paying for the assembly was a mistake. I was pleasantly surprised when I started to read the directions and that all the parts really fell into place as I started to assemble the elliptical. Let me also say that this is a fairly heavy piece of equipment and it will certainly make the assembly easier if you have somebody that can help you. I finished the assembly after 2 hours and 15 minutes and I can honestly say that it really wasn't a bad experience.
Part 2 of my review will come in a week or so after I have a chance to use it. All I can say right now is that it appears to be well built and sturdy, more in about a week.
Part 2
This machine is very quiet and sturdy. I'm very happy that I chose this model. The only unimportant negatives ....the speakers are not very good and the console is dim. I would recommend this elliptical to my friends.

Could be a lot better
By Customer
I was excited to order this and have my own workout equipment at home rather than going to a gym to use the same thing. However I have been disappointed. When it first arrived I knew it would take two people and time to assemble it. What I didn't plan on was getting all the parts out of the box just to find that one of the pieces that attaches to the base was broke in half. When I called ProForm to see about getting a replacement part, the guy told me I needed to send a picture of it so him and his boss could look at it to determine if I had "tampered" with it. Then my internet wouldn't work for me to email him a picture and he said they were closing in 20 min so to just try back on that following Monday. I then turned right around and called them again and got a woman who right away told me they would ship me the part!
Then putting it together was a whole other issue. It took my friend and I four hours to put it together, not to mention the grease they said it came with wasn't in there so I had to get my own. Once we finally got it together I was thrilled, just to find out that it wobbles, squeaks, and it made this awful loud grinding noise on the body (the only part I didn't have to put together) as I used it. I'm 150 lbs so I knew weight wasn't the issue. Thankfully after using it a couple of times the grinding stopped so the only issue is the squeaking and wobbling, but at least it works! I'm happy that it's working and it's quieter now than before, but I certainly won't be getting a ProForm again and I'll be going to a store and have someone else assemble it for me.

So far so good
By AJ
Although we just received oir elliptical yesterday and have only given it a brief trial run, so far I'm happy with it. It seems to be a well-made machine. We did experience one assembly issue; two of the screws that go at the bottom of the "stalk" that the computer sits on would not go in, even though we left all other screws loose (there are a total of six screws that hold the stalk to the base). The hole in the stalk was just a little off what we needed for the screws to catch the threads on the inside. I used a Dremel and was able to widen the holes out a little bit, but still not enough to take care of the issue. I was finally able to tighten the screws enough that they will hold and the plastic cover just barely slides over the heads. Everything else went together fine. I greased everything up as per the directions and don't expect that we'll have any squeaking issues others complained about.
Besides the issue with the two screws, I gave this a 4-star rating because of the unit not coming with an AC adapter. Seriously?! It would have added maybe $5 to the cost of the equipment. Not a good move. I can't imagine that the batteries will last very long.
I am happy to find this post very useful for me, as it contains lot of information. I always prefer to read the quality content and this thing I found in you post. Thanks for sharing. Treadmill Review Proform 505 CST
