Love it! It's so smooth and easy to use
By SuzieB
I'm very pleased with this elliptical. It operates very smoothly and quietly, and it offers plenty of features that make your workout as easy or challenging as you wish. I took notes from the time it arrived so it would hopefully help potential buyers of this model know what to expect.
My Schwinn 470 arrived in a very large box that had to be delivered by a freight company since it was too large and heavy for UPS or Fedex. The delivery truck was a 28 foot small freight truck which was able to get in and out of my tight neighborhood. The driver brought it inside my door. I was alone that day, so I assembled it by myself. I'm a 51 year old woman, but had no worries about the task ahead of me. I started at 11:30 and finished at 2:08. This included the time necessary to unpack everything. The machine was in a lot of pieces, each wrapped in plastic and separated by thick Styrofoam for protection.
The first thing I noticed was that the flywheel housing had popped loose during shipment, but I was able to pop it back into place easily enough. I used a flashlight to peer inside and it appeared that everything was intact.
The unit came with all of the necessary hardware and tools for assembly. Some components had the hardware pre-assembled and needed to be unscrewed before connecting to other pieces. However, some of the screws came loose during shipment. Fortunately, all of the nuts and bolts were contained in the plastic bags that surrounded each piece so nothing was lost.
Nothing was complicated to assemble, it was just a matter of using simple nuts and bolts to connect the parts. It was a little tricky to attach the console shaft to the flywheel housing since the collar around the shaft wanted to drop down in my way while I bolted it down. However, I grabbed a ribbon and tied it out of the way and it was a breeze after that.
I did not assemble the elliptical in the exact spot where I planned to use it, so I had to lift the end and roll it into place. The machine is designed to be lifted and rolled and it moved easily enough, however it was very heavy to lift. I pulled the small of my back a little and it was slightly sore for a few days. Be careful how you lift it so you don't experience the same thing.
The cover of the manual said it was not complete and I should go to their website to download a complete copy. Those without internet access can call customer service to request a copy. This would annoy me if I was not able to get online, but thankfully I was able to download it. The printed copy includes 28 pages including the covers, and the downloaded copy is 48 pages long. The printed copy included all of the directions necessary to assemble the unit, along with basic operating instructions. You will need to download or order the complete manual to learn how to use all of the options available with this machine and I recommend reading it to make the most of your unit.
The console includes a shelf that lets you place a tablet or other item for use during your workout. I personally did not find it useful because it wasn't in the right position for me. I'm 5'5" tall, but my vision isn't the best. I was not able to read from that position. However, the machine is extremely quiet and I was able to watch a wall-mounted TV while using it. I also preferred to see the display on console as I used it and did not want to cover it up. I found it helpful and motivating to watch my progress as I worked out.
The timer is nice and it even congratulates me when I exceed my record time. A button allows me to pause or end the workout. Push it twice to end, and it then goes into cool-down mode for 3 minutes. The timer stops, so the 3 minutes I use to cool down is not included in my total time. The workout also pauses anytime it detects that you have stopped, then it resumes when you begin again. This is very helpful if you get interrupted.
The unit offers a variety of programs that will allow you to switch your routine up as often as you'd like. I think it makes it more fun to use, and it also makes it much more challenging. I had to back out of a few programs I tried, but that just encourages me to continue to build up my endurance and strength.
Schwinn Connect allows you to download the data from your console and upload it to their website. From there you can keep track of how many calories you have burned and other statistics. It can also be integrated with MyFitnessPal. I personally found this to be only minimally helpful because I track my progress in other ways. However, I'm sure plenty of people will be motivated by this tool.
Using this machine is very easy and comfortable. It's also very smooth and quiet, much more so than I expected! The footplates are very large and cushioned, so it's easy to get on and off and stay in place while using it. The water bottle holder is perfectly positioned and it also has another compartment to hold my cell phone or TV remote control.
I use it almost every day and love it! This is definitely a brand and model that I would recommend to my friends and family. I know that my review was a little long, but I hope it was helpful.

Great for back pain sufferers!
By G. Evans
I love my elliptical! I had my lumbar spine reconstructed following an IED attack in April of 2006. For over 7 years now I have been looking for a way to get my exercise in without suffering from any impact like walking. This machine is bringing me back to life, because now I can get a serious work out in without the effects of severely irritated nerve endings. I love the way I can customize every aspect of my workouts to maximize the time spent on the machine. It's no larger than a regular exercise bike and is very quiet. You can set up your tablet to watch movies while you are exercising to distract you from what you are really doing. By the time you know it you are done. I couldn't ask for more out of a personal piece of home exercise equipment and you will be amazed at how many muscle groups you are working on and how you can punch through your personal goals over and over again. I don't know why I didn't get an elliptical earlier, but at this price there is NO excuse! Trust me on this one, because you will love this machine! It's a brand new model, so there isn't much data out there to do any research, but look no further and buy it at the discounted price while you can! I promise you will be highly satisfied and writing about how much you love your own machine! There are many more features to write about, but just buy one and enjoy it! This is going to be very hard to find once the word gets out so get off the couch!

Solid And Smooth - Almost As Good As The $2000 Models
By Carter (1amazonreviewer@gmail . com)
Ok I am comparing this to a professional Elliptical Machine that my wife has that cost right at two grand.
1. Is it as smooth as the pro model, no. Is there a big difference in the smoothness of the glide? Going from one machine to the other you can tell which one you are on, but only because the stride is a little bit different on the Schwinn, and not as fluid. Is the more fluidity of the pro elliptical worth the extra eleven hundred or so bucks? No way. The Schwinn will do what you need and you will not be unhappy with the feel and experience.
2. Is the Schwinn as sturdy as the pro model. Yes and no. The Scwinn takes up a good three feet less space in length . I think that is where the feeling of extra stability comes in, that and the pro model weights another 70 lbs. Believe me the Schwinn weighs plenty and you will not be able to harm it. I tried, jumping and jerking, dong the stuff an eleven year old would do to it when they were bored and being stupid. Didn't miss a beat.
3. Computer programs. Ok the program is much more basic than the pro elliptical but it does what you need. You might want a few more options on this one like wifi upload to your computer so you can track stuff, but on the other hand when on the pro I look at the huge interface and think I am getting ready to launch a space shuttle with all the crap I have to punch in just to have a workout. By the time I get done with all the input, ( I have a short attention span) I am ready to go do something else, unlike the Schwinn which is simpler.
Elliptical has a good warranty that you will most likely never need.
Arrived by freight truck in the worlds largest box on a pallet. Had to make a delivery appointment, and had to be present to sign and show where I wanted the gigantor placed. 250 lbs. Pretty sure you can leave the thing in its box and just move it around for a workout if you so pleased. Comes with tools to assemble and is not difficult.
Now my wife can get on hers and I can take my coat off and hang it on this one while I watch her and the tv while drinking a Boulevard Wheat beer.
All kidding aside this is a nice one.
