5Well made and easy to put together
By Craig Motsenbocker
I am a quality kind of guy, and I know quality. This Elliptical is exceptionally well made with very
high quality parts. This replaced my very poorly made Proform Treadmill. Proform doesn't stand behind their
products very well btw. But I'm over that and have learned my lesson. Quality over quantity always.

1. The instructions are very easy to follow for putting this together - a must for the average Joe who doesn't
have an engineering degree.

2. The quality of the parts are outstanding.

3. The finish on the parts is outstanding.

4. The machine is a joy to use.

I am very pleased that I bought this.

5Kick-a** workout. Holding up well w/regular use.
By T. Cincotta
DELIVERY: Do yourself a favor - put a nice tip aside for the delivery. If you can shell out the ducats for this machine, you should have no qualms paying $40-50 to entice the delivery guys so they bring this into your house for you. (Our delivery men brought it straight up & into the room directly at the top of the stairs.) Otherwise, this machine will need to likely be brought into your home piecemeal.
ASSEMBLY: My husband, who is mechanically inclined, put this together himself, though the instructions recommend 2 people. He said it was no trouble for him, but notes 2 people would be better for the average person. The components came packed well, the little parts were laid out on a shrink-wrapped cardboard, & the instructions were relatively easy to follow. It took my husband 2 or so hours, but he is also very meticulous, so it may not be so long for someone else.
USE: Initially, the machine wasn't intuitive to use, as there were only a few buttons, & no instructions as to how to operate them. There is a "quick start" function, which we were able to use right away just to test the machine out. We found the instructions online, & then were able to navigate the advanced functions (like setting users & workouts) more easily. Once we got that sorted out, using the machine was a pleasure. It glides easily, w/a good stride, & it can be used w/the swinging arms or w/the stationary "bicycle" handles. The display is easy to read, & saves your place in your workout if you need to stop for more than a few minutes. The one thing that was a drag was the fan...at 5' 5", it just doesn't do anything for me because it's over my head & non-adjustable. I'm using my own table fan instead.
I've been using this for 5 months now (generally 4 days a week), & I am thrilled w/it. The one caveat is that it did develop a minor squeak on one side, but w/headphones it's not bothering me. (I hear lithium grease helps this, so I'll have to try it.) Overall, this elliptical is well worth the price tag. It's got lots of optional workouts, or manual if you don't want to use a presets, & it tracks your stats (when using the programmed user settings). This machine has lots of potential to grow with it, as it has many options to push up your strength & stamina levels. (I'm not completely foreign to exercising, but still started out at the lower levels of training.) It provides, as my title indicates, a kick-a** workout. I've lost weight & inches, & feel fantastic.
I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase this machine - particularly looking at its predecessor, which was no longer available on Amazon. I have not been disappointed, & absolutely recommend this machine as being a good value for the money.

5Not perfect but pretty close
By Jakester
This is a pretty big item to purchase so I'm breaking my review into several sections based on what I did.
Unpacking:
The elliptical is very well packed with each piece covered by a plastic sleeve. There's also molded styrofoam to keep parts secure so I recommend unpacking outside and taking the unit inside piece by piece. You'll get a lot less of the styrofoam bits sticking to everything. This stuff sticks to stuff like it was made of rare earth magnets that sweats epoxy. Anywho, there are several parts covered in plastic that are pre-greased so I recommend leaving them wrapped until needed during unit assembly.
Assembly:
This was quite a workout and I would allow 1-2 hours to assemble. The book says it's a 2 man job but I did it by myself. All the tools needed to assemble are included (An allen wrench with a Phillips point and a couple wrenches). These work well enough but most of the work will go much easier if you use your own tools. All the parts and tools are on 2 pieces of cardboard with a vacuum sealed plastic cover. There were not missing or extra washers or bolts. The quality of the parts is exceptional and everything fit together exactly as designed with very little need to tweak any alignment between parts and bolt holes. The instructions are step by step with large, clear pictures. All hardware identified by a letter designation and the larger parts of the elliptical are labeled L or R. It's very hard to make a mistake with these instructions.
Operation:
Using the elliptical is a pleasure. All the moving parts move smoothly and quietly. The unit itself has a pretty small footprint and is easy to move (grab the back end and lift up to roll the unit in the same way you would a wheelbarrow. The dashboard is bright and easy to read. There is no On/Off switch. The unit turns on when you press any button and will put itself in sleep mode after 5 minutes of no usage/input. Not sure if I like that as the brick type adapter plug may turn out to be an energy vampire. I'll have to put it on a power strip if that turns out to be true. There is a built-in fan that is pretty weak and an unnecessary addition IMHO. There is a 3.5mm female plug in for an MP3 player but the speakers leave something to be desired. I'll be sticking with headphones.
The control console is somewhat disappointing. Although bright and easy to read there is not much coverage of how to use it in the manual so you have to do some trial and error. The physical operation of the unit is great. It's smooth and quiet and gives a great workout. I've been using a treadmill for a while now and find that 10 minutes on the elliptical feels like 30 on the treadmill.
Summary:
I recommend this unit highly. While the console is somewhat disappointing that's a fairly minor complaint and one that I believe will lessen over time as I figure out how to use it correctly. The main thing is that the operation is terrific. It really feels like a pro gym quality machine and gives a terrific workout.
