4Good machine but uses batteries?
By me
The machine is well built, sturdy and not too hard to put together. Don't spare the included grease; we had squeeking problems the first time we used it after putting sparing amounts of grease on it. We pulled it apart and added more grease. Now it's quiet and works well with one caveat - it uses 4 D cell batteries and runs through them fairly quickly. Batteries also run the risk of leaking acid and ruining the electronics. When you spend hundreds on a machine you expect it to arrive with an AC adapter, not have to purchase it seperately.

2Proform Elliptical 6.0
By Jim S. Kuester
The unit I purchased came in with shipping damaged. The plastic parts were not well protected from the heavy metal parts. Chose to contact the company to repair rather than return. It took two shipments of parts to get all the ones required. One of the main support arms was also not correctly manufactured and that caused the unit to squeak loudly. They did send a new one. Also, the plastic used on the covers is very brittle and makes it hard to remove the plastic covers without damage. They really need to spread the design money around the unit a little better. The customer service was good but the product needs work. If you are mechanically inclined, you are OK. Have had the unit for about a month now and am still running it without the plastic covers to make sure all the squeaks get stopped and no other issues arise. Then it will be decision time as you have to either remove the mechanical parts to get the plastic on or modify them to fit without taking the unit apart. The company needs to seriously improve their packaging, spend more time on the design of the connections that support weight and then make the plastic parts easy to take off and on. We had a 3.0 before the 6.0 and it had the same squeaking problems and the same poor design on the plastic parts. They have a good product if they just get their engineers to solve some very basic issues.

4Not gym quality, but close
By Lyndsay
Was so scared when my husband chose this one and then I read the reviews. So many people had horrible posts about broken parts, wobbly movement, etc. well, we got both at first. The back piece of plastic that goes over the flywheel was broke in shipping (not packaged well in my opinion). My husband put it together and I used it for about half an hour after he and the kids had played on it for about an hour. (oh, he super glued the broke piece). The feel of the ride was close to what I get at the gym with high quality equipment with a slightly smaller stride. By the end of the thirty minutes though it was getting wobbly to ride and I was slightly disappointed. Don't know if it was in my husband's ability to put together or the machine itself. Had my husband go back and tighten everything back up and it rides beautifully now. So for anyone with the wobbles, I suggest going back and just retightening everything. We have it on laminate floors which makes it easy to move for cleaning around. As for the broken piece, my husband called customer service and they sent a replacement piece which we received within days (not weeks like some people seemed to have). I'm assuming it had something to do with which piece broke and stock on hand. Overall very happy, especially since I was so nervous after reading all the reviews. We chalked some of them up to user error on the installation, but I do believe they need to reevaluate their packaging for the sheer number of broken parts people are receiving.
