5Can't Beat it for the Price
By Armyocs
My fiancee and I bought this (instead of gym memberships) to add to our growing home gym. Not sure why everyone is saying this takes so long to put together, but it only took me 45 minutes, and that was by myself, while watching Netflix... Any who, for the price, this is the real deal! Granted, it's a bare-bones version of an elliptical, but how many bells and whistles do you really need? You have to use it a time or two before the grease settles inside the parts and gives it a nice lubrication - may seem a little stiff at first ;)

5Sturdy, quiet & everything I need in an elliptical
By Tom D.
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RBAOV1VOZDK0P My short video review goes into more detail, but in summary the Schwinn a40 Elliptical is:

* Light in weight but sturdy and quiet (I can move it about as needed with the casters)
* The 6 programs are each challenging yet enjoyable
* Computer console, while not lighted, is easy to see (and use)
- I love the feedback readings for heart rate, calories, distance
* It is quiet yet very sturdy
* Speakers are adequate for my workouts

Nov. 25 edit: It seems the issue with the two parts not fitting together mentioned in my initial review was due to cold weather - the box had been stored in the garage where it is very cold. Once the parts were inside for 24 hours they in fact fit together. Original review below.

This review will evolve as I get info from Schwinn.

I own and have assembled two other Schwinn Elliptical trainers - the 450 and the 425 (2013 model). I had no trouble putting those together and they work great to this day.

However, the Schwinn A40 Elliptical had proven impossible to assemble - the end of the right lower handlebar arm is apparently slightly pinched and will not fit into the leg component. I've tried everything and it seems to be a factory issue as I do not see any physical damage.

I am putting a call into Schwinn and will update this review accordingly.

4Great Basic Model!
By Jessica Cave
This isn't a top-of-the-line elliptical, nor does it have all of the bells and whistles, but it's great for its price and for a "lower-end" model. To keep it short and easy to read, I'll give you my first impressions in list form:

In a Nutshell:

* Pretty easy to assemble. Just follow the instructions and you shouldn't have any issues. I managed and I'm totally not tool-savvy. It does, however, take a while. You don't have to clear out a day, but plan on clearing out a couple hours at least.

* Wheels are attached to make it easy to move around. It's not too heavy, either. I'm able to move it whenever needed. This is REALLY helpful to me, in case I want to clean around it, need to change rooms, just want a change of scenery, etc.

* Comes with speakers built in. While I can't use these all the time (particularly while there are others in the room), they're nice to use when I'm alone. Helps get me pumped up.

* Nice screen. It's not backlit, but it's still easy to read. There are several different feedback settings that come with it.

* Not super loud. It seems fairly typical in this department, really.

* You can use it without power. I found this out by accident one day, but it's kind of nice. There's no excuse for not working out if the power goes out.

All in all, it's not the best product out there, but it's a really great option for the basic user. Comes highly recommended.
