5love this unit use it daily
By Scott Highley
I purchased this on a different site and payed 100 dollars more than current amazon price, but still don't regret it, it has a 220 lbs weight limit. when I started using it I weighed 220 lbs, so I was a little nervous, site I bought item from didn't list the weight limit. haven't had any problems yet and have been using it daily for three weeks straight. after the 3 weeks I have lost 17 lbs, so I can say it has been doing the job above expectation. I am up to using it for 20-30 miles daily. only issue is that I wish the biking seat was a little bigger with a little more cushioning, but I would definitely recommend this to friends. it seems to be pretty sturdy, just remember to check and make sure the nuts and bolts are tight on a weekly basis. as with all equipment like this, the more moving parts and more vibrations the more possibilities for parts to come loose. the only parts I have had to retighten is the handlebars, but that's because they are made to switch out, there are seperate spots to place handlebars depending on if you want to use trainer as an elliptical or bike. I just leave them in the elliptical spot for both uses. highly recommend, will let you know in a month or 2 how it holds up with my intense use. as for the fan effect, it might help someone setting next to machine, but I get absolutely no air flow riding machine, but that is not a big deal. good luck and happy training. by the way, this is the first machine that I have used and have been able to stick to......

4Great Entry Level Trainer
By KevinC
I'm a 48 year-old male, 5'9" and just a smidge over 195 lbs. Since late winter, I've been trying to shed 20-25 lbs and a few inches from my gut by walking for an hour every other day or so. Walking, although a great way to exercise, was simply not working. About all I have managed to do is to halt the weight gain; no progress in actually losing weight. Since I consider running to be an emergency procedure and not a form of exercise, I knew I needed more. I think myself to be a beginner when it comes to exercising, but knew I needed a piece of equipment for home-use as I work flexible hours and find it difficult to go to a fitness center with any kind of regularity. I literally spent weeks shopping online and "test driving" elliptical machines at various stores -- the wealth of choices can be intimidating!

I settled on the Pure Fitness Dual Trainer for several reasons:
- Because of my knees, low impact is a must (hence my selection of an elliptical as my weapon of choice to combat additional
weight gain.)
- Priced attractively for my budget. Let's face it; who can afford to spend $500+ 'experimenting' with exercise machines?
- A truly usable (read uncomplicated) piece of equipment.
- Biking option would add variety to my workouts and (hopefully) prevent stagnation of routine.
- Compact design with a small footprint that fits comfortably in the room. This feature was especially important to me, because if I
have to lug the thing from storage into a room to use... it would never get used!

So I purchased the machine. It arrived on-time and despite the weight, there was no special delivery criteria from the shipper. I've been using it for about 10 days, and this is what I've found:

Pros:
- Easy to assemble with all the parts and miscellaneous hardware in the box. (took about 45 minutes)
- Sturdy; it doesn't have that "cheap" feel nor is the machine in any way flimsy.
- Quiet... but I don't have a frame of reference to compare it to, just that it is quieter than I expected.
- Utilitarian; stretch, hop on, warm up, and go. No requirement to synch to an external device, no need to spend five minutes
selecting what program to run or aligning heart monitoring straps or updating settings, just Pure Fitness -- an aptly named
product.
- Easy to adjust resistance band (once you have your 'personal' style dialed in)

Cons:
- The exercise bike configuration is simply NOT an option for those who do not possess the physical proportions of an orangutan!
There is no way my hands can comfortably grasp the handles (and stay attached to them) with the seat adjusted for proper leg
extension while pedaling, unless I happen to be fond of twisting my torso in unnatural ways. Seriously -- the seat assembly has no
adjustment fore and aft -- it may work for some, but not for me... at least not as an exercise that isn't part of an exercise in
frustration.
- I read from the product description that the fan of the spinning wheel would "cool the user during a workout." Umm... no. No,
It does not cool a darn thing unless you are sitting beside of it on the floor.

Additional Comments:
This is a truly worthy product for consideration as an entry-level exercise machine. I believe that I will "outgrow" the elliptical in a year or so... but it is good enough that I have my doubts about that, too. I know I can get a solid workout -- 30 minutes every other day. Currently, I am striving for 15 minutes every other day, but I set a personal goal to continue for an extra minute each time I get on it. Sometimes works, sometimes not. But that is me, not the machine. 10 days into it, I am pleased.

I figured I'd update my review after just over a month's worth of steady use...

Pro: - It really does work! 10 lbs so far!
- I use the bike seat as a warm-up and cool-down resting place
- Seems to be holding up rather well. No major wear-and-tear or parts suddenly breaking from use. Granted, I am the only one using it.
- Digital center works well for timing my workouts. I do not like the scan feature, as it seems to always display exactly what Im not looking for,
but I've learned to leave it on 'timer' mode and use it for my sessions.
- Still quiet. The last week or so, I have been getting up at 5:00 am for work. Part of my routine is hitting the Pure Fitness every other day. I don't
wake the rest of my family up when I exercise.
- Delivers a solid workout if you have the patients to adjust/tweak things as they come up.

Cons: - The biking feature doesn't work for me no matter how I try. It may have something to do with the pedals and the way I position my feet, but the
most uncomfortable part is the overextension of my arms as I try to ride with the handles.
- Speaking of handles... the handles on my machine need to be tightened after only a few minutes use. There is no danger of them slipping out as
you ride, but it is a HUGE distraction as the sloppy feel prevents you from using your arms in any meaningful way to exercise.
- The tension band seems to have a mind of its own; it never feels the same each time. I now realize I want a standard I can set for a baseline as I
progress in my goal. I have no idea what machine or combination will give me that, but I do know that each night is a little different on how I
have to tighten the band. Not a show-stopper, but it is annoying.

5Great workout at a great price!
By Patty Ferringo
This trainer has met all our expectations. It provides the perfect workout for our needs. It did feel a bit awkward at first to use the trainer as a bike, the pedals felt a little strange. I got over that quickly and do enjoy using the trainer as a bike and an elliptical. I feel we got more than what we paid for :)
