1Problems with crank arm attachment to hub
By William M. Miller
I bought this at walmart.com and was initially pleased: it was smooth and a good workout. After a few minutes, though, I started noticing a slight hitch or unevenness in the movement on the left side. I found that the nut holding the left crank arm onto the rear sprocket hub was loose. I tightened it, but it very quickly loosened again. I used some Loctite thread locker on it and it stayed put. However, with another half-hour's use, the crank arm on the other side developed about fifteen degrees of play, which resulted in a very noticeable jerk whenever the crank arm moved past vertical and flopped over to the opposite end of its range of motion. The one on the left side also began to have some free play, about half as much as the right side. I wasn't able to tighten the nuts on either side any further, so I gave up and returned it. Based on the reviews and comments on walmart.com, it appeared that something like this problem was a near-universal experience for those who had bought it, and I notice that the item has been removed from that site.

I emailed the manufacturer about my experience, and the person who replied indicated that they were aware of the problem and were addressing it, so new iterations of the product may, in fact, be fine. (It might just be a case of needing a lock washer or some such.) I would buy the item again if I had some assurance that this problem had been fixed, as it seemed to be a cost-effective means of getting a good workout.

3Serves it purpose
By Edee
So I brought this even after reading reviews came very quick put it together in about two hours picture directions make it a tad confusing but still manageable. Once put together I used my wrench to just tighten the screws tools that come with elliptical aren't the best! Overall I would say this machine is worth the price doesn't take up to much space and you can get a quick work out @ home buyer beware its stride is for a short person as I'm 5'8 and I can only use it in backwards motion going forward is to rough I've had it a few weeks no problems and I've lost a few pounds I notice a difference in my arms and thighs I use it 6 days a week for 15 20 minutes (which is a task) for 150 I'd say I spent my money well.......

4Does the job!
By R. Bain
I actually bought this same item from Walmart.com but I figured I would leave a review on here as well. Mine came new in the box and it said "easy to assemble" on the outside of the box. So I asked my husband to put it together for me since I'm technically challenged. He's usually very good at putting things together, but this took him 2 hours to do. The tension knob came broken, BUT we ordered a new part the same day we received the elliptical and we got the new knob 3 days later.

As for use, I am 5'3" and this works great for me. Nice stride, tends to shift with your weight a bit (I'm 135 lbs), but it gets the job done. You get what you pay for. If I wanted a bulky commercial one I would go to the gym or spend over $1K on one. Minimal noise while in use. The calorie counter is way off but I only use it for the time and distance anyway. It's nice and compact, easy to move. I don't have time to go to the gym with a little one at home, so this works for me!
